about good deed

Good Deed, like most things, was just a random idea that we kept thinking about until we decided to talk to more people about it, the grown up kind. (To be fair, I’m 10) So my mom and I met with the leaders of a local non-profit we always donate to when we can and asked them if they thought something like this could work.

Something where we collect party decorations and leftover party favors and put them in a place where mom’s and dad’s can come pick out what they need from what we named the “Party Closet”. It’s really a safe, no-judging space where parents can come pick out decorations to throw their child the perfect party. Whether that is Paw Patrol or Bluey or a Luau or a Silent Disco.

What we realized, is if we all shared out party decorations when we were through with them, so many other people could have amazing birthdays too. And - we would have less trash as an added bonus.

Well, that idea led to the gift giving part.

Why stop at the decorations. Surely we could get some toys too. My mom mentioned that she sometimes spends a lot of time (and maybe too much money) on party favors. So, why not say thank you by giving a gift to another child instead?

Then, I remembered some of my friends have partys that say “NO GIFTS REQUIRED” but I always wonder if that means no one will bring gifts? Or will everyone else bring something and I will be the guy that brought nothing to the party. It can be a bit stressful if I’m honest. So, I thought adding the ability to buy a gift for someone ELSE in honor of the Birthday Girl or Boy who’s party I was going to would be a win for everyone. So, now you can do that and download a little card to give them that lets them know you DID get them a gift AND you actually followed the directions on their invitation :)

So what do you think? Do you want to join the GOOD DEED club?
